Ben Hannah

December 31, 1919 — July 25, 2007

Ben Henry Hannah, age 87, of Newfound Road, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 25, 2007. He was a native of Haywood County and the son of the late Henry and Willie Hannah. Ben retired from Champion International after 39 years of service where he was a forklift operator. Ben was a member of Mountain View Church of God. Ben had a special love for family and automobile racing. In addition to his wife of 71 years, Ruth Smith Hannah, he is survived by one son, Harold Hannah and his wife, Barbara, of Candler; one daughter, Benalee Stuart of Lavonia, GA; two sisters, Martha Devore of Candler and Evelyn Smith of Clyde; two brothers, Charlie Hannah of Clyde and Joe Hannah of Candler; three grandchildren, Mike Pitts, Terry Hannah, and Randy Hannah; three great-grandchildren, Macey Hannah, Connor Hannah, and Garrett Hannah. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 29, 2007, at Mountain View Church of God with the Reverend Herman Toney and Reverend Thad Dowdle officiating. Burial follow at Crawford/Ray Memorial Gardens in Clyde. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Saturday at Wells Funeral Home in Canton. Pallbearers will be Mike Pitts, Terry Hannah, Randy Hannah, Willie Devore, Earl Hannah, Richard Hannah, Jimmy Smith, and Zeek Hannah. At other times, the family will be at the residence of Ruth Hannah, 2592 Newfound Road, Canton. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Mountain View Church of God Building Fund, P. O. Box 553, Canton, NC 28716.
