Alouis Osstyn

Waynesville-Alouis "Al" Osstyn, age 82, of 115 Winchester Drive died Friday, September 9, 2005 at Haywood Regional Medical Center.<br><br>He was a native of Detroit, MI and had resided in Haywood County over 20 years and was the son of the late Charles and Theresia Verbourgh Osstyn. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Charles Osstyn.<br><br>He was a United States Navy veteran serving in World War II and retired as a tire production supervisor with Uniroyal/B.F. Goodrich with 32 years of service. He always enjoyed working following retirement and enjoyed many hobbies, especially model trains and his 1931 Ford model A sedan. He volunteered with Mountain Projects in Haywood and Jackson counties along with Meals On Wheels. He was a member of Maple Grove United Methodist Church.<br><br>In addition to his wife of 58 years, Doris Finnie Osstyn, he is survived by three sons, Randolph Osstyn and his wife, Carrie of Marquette, MI, Dale Osstyn and his wife, Janet of Saline, MI and Jeffrey Osstyn and his wife, Pamela of Renton, WA; eight grandchildren, two step grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.<br><br>A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Monday, September 12, 2005 at Maple Grove United Methodist Church with the Reverend Michael A. Shuford officiating. The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 3:00 p.m. prior to the service at the church. Wells Funeral Homes & Cremation Services of Waynesville is in charge of arrangements.<br><br>In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Maple Grove United Methodist Church, c/o Mrs. Jerry Pobuda, 577 Woodmore Drive, Waynesville, NC 28785. <br>
