Obituary for Michael Hilliard

Maggie Valley, Michael Hilliard, age 72, passed away on Friday, March 30, 2018 at VA Medical Center.

A native of Walton County, Georgia, he was the son of the late John King and Susie Bell Almand. In addition to his mother he was preceded in death by his daughter, Jennifer Norton. Michael was a member of Hill Top Baptist Church. He had an adventurous spirit throughout his entire life. While working for Lazy Boy as a truck driver, he logged over one million miles on the road. When he wasn’t trucking from New Jersey to Alabama, Michael loved amusement parks. He would ride all the roller coasters multiple times wearing the biggest smile on his face.

Michael is survived by his wife of 26 years, Doris Hilliard; daughter, Sue Ellen Hilliard, of Bethel; son, Michael Thomas Hilliard, and his wife, Lisa, of Navarre, Florida; 1st cousin and best friend, Billy Almand, and his wife, Sandra, of Social Circle, Georgia; five grandchildren, Cody Hilliard, Ben Hooper, Jared and Kylie Conard and Alyssa Norton; and one great-grandchild, Chloe Hilliard.

A memorial service will be held from 2:00 until 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 7, 2018 at First Baptist Church of Maggie Valley with Reverend Darin Reeves officiating.
