Obituary for Maudie Buchanan Davis

Waynesville, Maudie B. Davis, age 92, passed away on Wednesday, July 18, 2018 at Silver Bluff Nursing Home.

A native of Haywood County, she was the daughter of the late William Edward and Martha Snyder Buchanan. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Madison Davis, who died in 1991, two brothers, William E. Buchanan (Bud), Mack James Buchanan (Peb) and three sisters, Letha Wyatt, Ruby Bumgarner and Joyce Fortner.

Maudie was a devoted housewife and mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She grew up during the depression which contributed to her strength and values. Maudie possessed strong values and taught her children many valuable life lessons. She lived everyday with her own schedule and routine. She enjoyed reading, especially her Bible, and walking her beloved dog “Maggie”. Maudie lived a full and long productive life and will be missed greatly.

Maudie is survived by a daughter, Linda Davis Laws and her husband, Steve, of Hickory; two sons, Steve Davis and his wife, Carolyn, and Danny Davis and his wife, Ann, all of Waynesville; a sister, Ann Pace, of Waynesville; a brother, Harry S. Buchanan and his wife, Lolita, of Candler; six grandchildren, Angie Laws, Annette Wilson (Robert), Raife Davis (Melinda), Nikol Shuler (Heath), Patience Mitchell (Grant) and Madison Davis (Becca); nine great-grandchildren, Alec and Matthew Reitzel, Brooke King (Justin), Seth Wilson, Lidia, Macey and Locke Davis, and Navy and Island Shuler; and several loving nieces and nephews, with one very special, Gloria Marsh.

At her request, a private graveside service will be held on Sunday, July 22, 2018.
