Obituary for Mary Lou Henson

“1940 ~ 2018”

Canton – Mary Lou Henson, 77, passed away on Monday, February 26, 2018 at her residence.

A native of Haywood County, she was a daughter of the late Rufus Verlin and Bessie Wooten Henson. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Tracy Henson; one daughter, Karen Henson; two sisters, Hilda Mann and Mavis Henson; and two brothers, Robert and Weldon Henson.

She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Vanise Henson; one daughter, Kelley Tyler (Rob), of Canton; three sisters, Lillian Clark of Canton, Nancy Wilson of Candler, and Betty Henson of Canton; four grandsons, Caleb (Celenda) and Andrew (Emma) Henson, and Justin (Angelica) and Jordan (Caley) Tyler; two great-grandchildren, Landon Smathers and Molly Henson.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, March 2, 2018 in the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Reverend Aryn Williams–Rubel officiating. Burial will follow at Bon-A-Venture Cemetery on Old Clyde Road. The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 1:45 p.m. prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Long’s United Methodist Church, 1097 Coffee Branch Road, Canton, NC 28716.
