Obituary for Jason Scott Messer

Fines Creek Community, Jason Scott Messer, age 40, passed away on Friday, September 1, 2017.

A native of Haywood County, he was the son of Wilford and Norma Messer. Jason was preceded in death by Silas’s mother, Anna Last. Jason was employed as a truck driver with CMT. From a young age Jason had a love for horses. Over the past ten years, he enjoyed riding in the Haywood County Labor Day Wagon train with his children and his dog Boots. Jason had a number of friends whose lives he touched. He will be greatly missed and forever in our hearts.

In addition to Jason’s parents he is survived by his wife, Tammy Messer; two daughters, Kaitlyn Messer and Kortney Messer, both of Canton; son, Silas Walker Messer, of Clyde; step-daughter, Keri Mehaffey, of Waynesville; step-son, Cole Gibson, of Canton; two brothers, Pete Messer and Tim Trantham, both of Waynesville; and two nieces, Taylor and Bryanna.

Funeral services will be held at 4:30 p.m. on Friday, September 8, 2017 in the Waynesville chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Reverend Billy Ferguson and Reverend Kenny Banks officiating. Burial will follow at Panther Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m., Thursday at the funeral home. Serving as pallbearers will be Pete Messer, Gregg Ferguson, Shaun Messer, Kirk Messer, Doyle Sutton, B. J. Buckner, D. C. Trantham and Martin Davis. Honorary pallbearers will be Tim Trantham, Jeremiah Parton, Josh Boggus, Tommy Fraiser, Jesse Mackey, Johnny Hannah, Jr., Wagon Train and Trucking buddies.
