Hiawatha Worley

November 18, 1923 — April 13, 2018

Waynesville - Thelma Hiawatha Rogers Worley, age 94, passed away on Friday, April 13, 2018 at Haywood Lodge & Retirement Center.

A native of Haywood County, she was the daughter of the late Hobert and Eva Queen Rogers. . In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Gudger Stinnett Worley, who passed away in 1979; and a son, John Douglas Worley, who passed away in 1972. Hiawatha retired from American Enka with 20 years service as a lab technician. She also volunteered at Charles George VA Medical Center in Asheville and was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church.

She is survived by two daughters, Terry Worley Wyatt of Canton and Margaret Worley Stockton of Waynesville; a sister, Tommie Carroll of Charlotte; six grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

A graveside memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 17, 2018 at Bon-A-Venture Cemetery on Old Clyde Road with the Reverend Dan Page officiating.

Memorials may be made to Haywood Healthcare Foundation (Hospice in memo line of check to apply funds to Hospice) c/o The Homestead, 127, Sunset Ridge Road, Clyde, NC 28721.
