Candler - Catherine Allen Ballard, 72, passed away on Tuesday, November 14, 2017 at John F. Keever Solace Center.

A native of Buncombe County, she was a daughter of the late Chester Elsworth "Nub" and Hazel Dehart Allen. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Vickey Warren; step-son, Nickie Ballard; and a sister, Johnnie McIntyre. Catherine was employed by Pisgah Manor Nursing Home for 15 years and enjoyed reading and being the best grandmother possible to her granddaughters, Morgan and Megan.

She is survived by her husband, Nelson Ballard; one daughter, Misty Morris and husband, Paul, of Candler; three step-daughters, Tina Baker and Gidget Ballard, both of Arden, and Cindy Ray of Black Mountain; one step-son, Mitchell Ballard and wife, Libby, of Arden; three sisters, Bobbie Brickey of Stoney Creek, Tennessee, Linda Broms and Rita Allen Valladares, both of Candler; one brother, Ricky Taylor of Candler; 11 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at her residence, 95 Wise Road in Candler, on Saturday, November 18, 2017 from 2:00 until 4:00 p.m.
